So what does this charming place have to offer you ? To start with, how about being able to take a short walk that leads you to nearby Travanca do Mondego? There you will discover two cafe/bars two mini supermarkets, along with educational facilities and parks.
Not only that but the rural nature of the area lends itself to a variety of outdoor activities, for example hiking, cycling and horse riding amongst the hundreds of kilometres of unspoilt woodland. There are also many different water activities nearby on lakes created by the Aguiera dam for example fishing, sailing,boating activities, swimming or pedalos. This reservoir is created by the Rio Mondego and Rio Alva. There are many good restaurants and bars locally the closest restaurant is in Silveirinho, or you can enjoy BBQ’s most of the year round due to the pleasant climate.
The village of Lagares has stunning views of mountainside to be enjoyed. You can reach the mountains in only twenty five min’s and here you have the 27 hole Montebelo golf course. This unique course offers the chance to experience your game whilst you take in the breath taking views of the Serra do Caramulo and Serra da Estrella mountain ranges.
Within 4 km is the town of Sao Pedro de Alva. There you can access banks, the postal office, GP surgery, both primary and secondary schools and yet more cafe’s and bars to choose from. The larger towns of Mortagua, Penacova and Santa Comba Dao a 15 minute drive away will fulfil any town needs and have some well stocked larger Supermarkets to choose from. The City of Coimbra just half an hours drive away too. Coimbra itself is a fantastic City to visit. Of special interest is its University, Universidade de Coimbra, one of the oldest Universities in the world. This institution of higher learning was founded in 1290. Coimbra City, both old and new will offer you a variety of optical and culinary experiences to remember for years to come Only 10 minutes on, is Conimbriga, where you could pay a visit to the remarkable Roman ruin

From Lagares you can visit the Serra da Estrella National Park an hour away with skiing facilities available part of the year. You can also visit many beaches, the closest at Figueira da Foz only 45 min’s by car.
