| _description 'This holiday interactive mailer from MetaDesign takes the surrealistic Exquisite Corpse game and applies it to the art of typography. In addition to mailing out the font, the disk reveals the process behind its design, showing how letters evolve from one designer to the next and, yet, in the end, mesh into a complete family.' -- Quoted from the I.D. Magazine 1999 Interactive Design Annual. The premise was that each employee at MetaDesign would design one letter or number in alphabetical sequence, and the parameters were that you could only see the previous letter or number to get inspiration for your own design. This played in to the Exquisite Corpse or Telephone childrens game. hence the name Crank Call as the Typeface and CDRom presentation. I was randomly selected to design the 'W' and the '@' sign. How appropriate considering that at that time I was the Sr. Web Technologist for MetaDesign. The CrankCall CDRom won a Silver Medal Award in the 1999 Interactive Design Annual presented by I.D. Magazine in June 1999. The CrankCall CDRom was also featured in the 3rd Edition of 'Typographic Design: Form and Communication' by Rob Carter, Ben Day, and Philip B. Meggs published byJohn Wiley & Sons in 2002. Download the Macromedia Director Projector for MacOS 9.0+ [466k .sit file] Download the Macromedia Director Projector for Windows98+ [480k .zip file] |
