Searching for an MP3 track on my HD and saw the ‘Definition’ option in Spotlight… so I clicked it… and this is what I saw… Almost fell out of my chair laughing… I must say this is a very cool addition and very useful feature… I wonder what other curse words I can find definitions for?

Dear friend of Internet freedom,
In just a week, over 250,000 of us signed a petition demanding that Congress keep the Internet free. Joining this call are Google and eBay, groups ranging from MoveOn to Gun Owners of America, and even some celebrities.
Some members of Congress already switched to our side, but companies like AT&T are pushing hard to win next week’s vote and seize more control over the Internet.
Together, we’ve got to up the ante. To reach 350,000 petition signatures, we’re launching a contest: You can win an iPod Nano or BarnesandNoble.com gift certificate by asking your friends to sign the “Save the Internet” petition.
To start, just forward this link to your friends and family with a short explanation of why you care about this issue:
MoveON.org
You will automatically get credit for anyone who signs the petition by using this petition link. You can use the sample note at the bottom of this email, too.
The 10 people who gather the most signatures by the end of the day on Monday, May 8th, will win an iPod Nano. The next 40 people will win a $20 BarnesandNoble.com gift certificate. You can see contest rules and track who’s winning at:
Contest Rules and Vote Tracking
(This is not the petition link.)
This petition will be delivered to Congress, and everyone who signs will be kept informed of the next steps we can take to keep the pressure on Congress before next week’s House vote.
Snopes.com, which monitors various causes that circulate on the Internet, explained:
Simply put, network neutrality means that no web site’s traffic has precedence over any other’s…Whether a user searches for recipes using Google, reads an article on snopes.com, or looks at a friend’s MySpace profile, all of that data is treated equally and delivered from the originating web site to the user’s web browser with the same priority. In recent months, however, some of the telephone and cable companies that control the telecommunications networks over which Internet data flows have floated the idea of creating the electronic equivalent of a paid carpool lane.
If companies like AT&T have their way, Web sites ranging from Google to eBay to MoveOn either pay protection money to get into the “fast lane” or risk opening slowly on your computer. We can’t let the Internet—this incredible medium which has been such a revolutionary force for democratic participation, economic innovation, and free speech—become captive to large corporations.
Thank you for all you do, and good luck.

This thing is almost a good 200(!) pages, and most of it is just text on text, with a few images to illustrate specific points. This is really a design geeks tome of all things ‘Apple in Print’. Pretty awesome!
The Apple Publication Style guide provides editorial guidelines for text in instructional publications, technical documentation, reference information, training programs, and the software user interface.

Speaking of TRASH, this one is on the opposite end of the spectrum. Basically the folks over at Fashion Peace have created a project in which up and coming and know fine artists, designers, illustrators, etc. have customized a variety of TRASH collecting devices… from those large lid based trolly trash cans, to the circular ones you put cans and bottles in, to those HUGE recycling bins you see at the back alley of your finer restaurants…
The TRASHed campaign is a year long trash education program developed by Fashion Peace that redefines the way people and businesses view recycling and trash collection. TRASHed develops programs that fit seamlessly within the surrounding environment and provide creative options in the way people approach waste management. Look for ways to get TRASHed in your neighborhood.

This weekend I was walking over to my favorite walking haunt, Farmers Market on 3rd, (and The Grove) in Los Angeles. Yes, I live 5 minutes away on foot! Who knew that you can actually walk places in LA. Egads, you mean your not spending every last cent on Fossil Fuels? Well, to make this walking story even more interesting I happened upon (or rather walked into) a HUGE orange gantry structure positioned right outside the entry way to my apartment complex at Park La Brea (actually next to the newer development Palazzo, but close enough).
Upon further inspection, I found they had spray painted a URL on the various surfaces printed w/ heavytrash.blogspot.com. So this morning I visited their site and found out about this urban and social commentary they are speaking of in relation to gated communities of which Park la Brea is.
Now, I understand the converastion they are having, but I for one, did not move into Park La Brea for the ‘gated’ aspects of it, nor the ‘personal’ security, I (or I should say ‘we’ ; my wife and child) moved there due to the competative rent rates for the amenities offered. Yes, in this case, after considerable research, west side rentals subscriptions, etc. I found that Park La Brea offered more amenities (and square footage) and housing services than a traditional Duplex, or Townhouse rental did.
What are they you ask? 24 hour on-call maintenance for FREE (if your faucet bursts, you call your local Plumber, and maybe you get re-imbursed by your landlord.), multiple very well groomed parks and trails for children to play on (all within a 2 min walk of each major building unit), WiFi cafe w/ multimedia room (for business functions and parties), guaranteed parking space (common, lets face it, in LA if you have a guaranteed parking space, your golden), and of course the single most important reason we moved there, location, location, location (being next to Farmers Market on 3rd, and The Grove!) and then of course all the amenities listed for a gated community that are implied, like a private security patrol, gates, but I digress.
So, I am ONE who is happy living in a gated community for completely different reason than the ‘gate’ offers… If your interested in reading up more on this current social and urban commentary just check out Heavy Trash for yourself… They have pictures as well!

To celebrate 5 years in business, jetBlue is now flying people from Burbank to New York and back for $99! This is so cool. I have been wanting jetBlue to expand their coverage of California and my dream has come true (blue)! With the inflight multichannel digital TV and leather seats, who needs peanuts, I will bring my own snacks. I think SouthWest is going to have to start bolstering their services and fares now. My new favorite cheap fare airline is jetBlue.

I was driving to work this AM and out of the corner of my eye I see movement. Low and behold, its a field mouse in my windshield wiper storage well. Everytime the car comes to a stop light, the mouse pops its head out and tries to jump down, but just as it gets enough confidence, the light changes we have to move again, making the mouse dart for cover. It hitched a ride from Miracle Mile-Wilshire to Pasadena (thats a 16 mile commute)!
