Loco Roco Demo for PSP

Loco Roco for PSP

This is a small sampling of my E3 prospers and finds. I had the pleasure of playing a new game for PSP called Loco Roco. Straight from the Japanese game designer ‘Tsutomu Kouno’s brain. The quality of the demo is best described by playing it yourself. Its a 2D side scroller, but you would never even pay attention to that technical detail. The imagery, sound and gameplay are so enthralling your locked into this kindof Loco Roco trance while playing it. Its a great game for adults and kids alike. The controls are so simple. its the left and right triggers to tilt your world landscape left or right by varying degrees and if you click the two triggers at the same time, it jumps one way or the other. Thats it!

The object of this game is to gobble up as much flowers and fruit as possible in each level and grow your little yellow rolling blobby guy. As you grow in size it becomes harder and harder to roll up steep slopes, etc. But wait, there is a special feature to break your rolling blobby guy into smaller rolling blobby mini guys. So if you need to squeeze through a small gap, or escape from a monster into a secret passage, you can at the flic of a button. This feature comes in handy! So, withought further ado, I send you the link to download the demo for PSP from the Japanese site for Loco Roco…

Download the Loco Roco Demo
Some caveats before you read through the page link provided and try to download the game demo (its in Japanese)…

• WARNING: You need to be running the latest Firmware on your PSP 2.70, this update disables any hax0r type downloads from working, so no more MAME or whatever dev stuff your goofing on PSP. If you have or want to keep your Hax0r type mods intact DO NOT update your firmware and stop here…

• If you want to do the update… then first go to your PSP control panel and select Network Update. Once you are done with this process, then move on to the next steps…

Before you copy the demo to your PSP, you need to create a couple of folders in your PSP directory structure to copy the game to once its downloaded…

1. Go into the PSP folder
2. Then the GAME folder (if you dont have one in there, make one right now)
3. Then create a folder called ‘UCJS10041′.

This is where your going to copy the downloaded Loco Roco Demo file.
Loco Roco Folder Path

At this point go to the Japanese site as translated by Babelfish.
Loco Roco Demo for PSP

Once here scroll towards to bottom, and click on the Download link at the bottom of the page. Once clicked a file called ‘EBOOT.PBP’ will start downloading to the desktop of your Mac or PC. Once downloaded, just copy the file into the newly created ‘UCJS10041′ folder.

At this point you need to restart your PSP for the file to be available as a playable demo. Once your PSP has restarted, navigate to the folder on your memory stick duo and select the splash screen for Loco Roco, it will start up the demos introscreen. Its all in Japanese, so be ready to just use your CIRCLE button alot to get to the game play. Once again the controls are SIMPLE, the L and R triggers and the circle button for special powers. Have fun!

Shigeru Miyamoto, Super T-Shirt

Shigeru Miyamoto

This was already cross posted by Jean Snow on his blog. I had to grab it and post it here as well!

OK, anyone who makes a screend Tshirt of Shigeru Miyamoto (if you dont know, he is the inventor/creator of Donkey Kong, Super Marios Bros and Zelda, plus many many more!), This is so cool in my book. I guess I am going to have to go and buy one now…

Apparently the guy is selling them for about $20 a pop, in various colors and sizes if you email him.

Monster Engines

I’ve been bad, I know. Not enough posts, not enough time. It’s how it goes sometimes … but now, it’s time for Monsters! First, there’s Monster Engine, where artist Dave Devrie “finishes” twisted drawings from little kids. Second, there’s the Beast Blender. where you can make your own courtesy of a nice Flash interface. GRRRRR!

Gameboyzz Orchestra Project

Gameboyzz Crew

You know that Gameboyzz Orchestra Project is cooler than blue man group (hehe), they use Nintendo Gameboys to make music, common now!

Gameboyzz Orchestra Project is an experimental sound - visual project, basing on the use of GameBoy console as a music instrument. Main assumption of project’s authors is to create new sound space on the base of tones generated live from console during the performance.

Our generation has been dealing with computers since childhood. We have witnessed an evolution in computer processesing power, from 8 bit processors to 32 bit processors. Computer technology has grew with us. Our free time has increasingly been spent playing computer games.

PSPWare, Sync PSP with OSX!

PSPware

I got a PSP today at some bfe nowhere Target store in North Hollywood, made a few calls and tracked a hidden inventory down. Well, as I was chatting with my friend Jayson (a QE at Apple), he mentioned a couple of cool PSP Syncing apps for OSX. They all enable you to Sync your data files and one also adds support for MPEG4 Video files and iTunes integration. Of the three that I looked at, PSPWare is the best…. Check it out!

Sync your music, movies and photos and back up your game saves with ease using PSPWare.

PSPWare integrates with iTunes, simply check the playlists you want on your PSP. When you make changes to your music library, PSPWare will make the same changes on your PSP, as you would expect.

PSPWare supports every common movie format (MOV, MPG, AVI, WMV, VOB) and you can easily prepare your DVD library for watching on your PSP’s gorgeous 16:9 wide aspect ratio screen!

PSPWare also integrates with iPhoto’s albums. Select the photo albums you want synced and presto, you have your photos in your pocket, along with your music and movies.

PSP, Playstation Portable Ads

PSP

If you have been taking notice of late, Sony Playstation has been dropping some major bucks on the PSP campaign here in Los Angeles (and elsewhere from the articles I have read). The ad campaign and ads that have been posted in bus-stops, on transit buses, billboards, on the internet and (of course I would mention this one) video ads on the playstation/psp japanese site.

Can I just say I LOVE the PSP. I have been toying with when I will buy one. Probably when I can find a good package deal online somewhere. I see Acme games in Hollywood (on Melrose & La Brea) has them. Hmmm, maybe Jason at Acme will kick me down with a better deal since I mentioned his store? Heck I even reviewed his awesome shop on Insider Pages!

PS2 Katamari Damacy 2 Announced

OK, NOW I cant get juiced about a PlayStation2 game that will soon hit the shelves… Katamari Damacy 2.

If your not farmiliar with this game series, you should learn up! Basically your dad the ruler of the universe blows up all the stars in the cosmos by mistake, you now have to go to all these 3D world environments and collect objects to re-assemble the stars and constellations. Your character is a little guy rolling around an ultramagnetized ball that collects objects. Your goal for each rolling collection mission is to reach a certain diameter of measurement. The more objects you roll over the more cling to you, the bigger the items you can collect, and so on. The soundtrack and animation are some of the best I have seen. Its a cross between the Beatles Yellow Submarine movie and a Monty Python Animated sketch (Terry Gilliam eat your heart out!). Its the most fun I have had playing a game on the PS2.

You can also download a wide assortment of desktops and such here at the official Katamari Damacy engrish translated site KatamariDamacy.jp.

Buy: Katamari Damacy $18.95

PS2 Godzilla: Save the Earth

Can you tell I am a Godzilla fanatic? I have been meaning to post about Godzilla: Save the Earth now for some time. I referenced it in a previous post, but now I have had time to really write about it. I LOVE anything that has Godzilla in it, on it, around it, etc. I am loving this game. Yeah, the game play is kind of the same for all monsters (each has its special attacks, etc.) but I like the mayhem. Its like a 90’s version of what Rampage was to the late 80’s. Nowadays console game systems have better 3D rendering and digital stereo surround sound. I would buy this game for the Godzilla Monster characters compilation alone (I mean Jet Jaguar and Space Godzilla?!). Much monster movie fun in my opinion. Mata ne.

PS> I own a whole slew of imported toys from HK and Japan, including the Takara Godzilla - Real Action Heros rubber suit variant (circa 1990). This one is a 18″ tall Rubber Suit with a 12″ Action figure of a man inside (he is in shorts and a t-shirt no less) as if he was playing Godzilla!
