BARCODE PLANTAGE transforms a simple product bar code into a unique tree in the garden of globalisation
One can find it on almost all products: the bar code. Everyone knows that the bar code is used to facilitate the cashing and recording of goods in stores. But which information is actually encoded within the bar code?
A simple answer to this question can be found at one of the product databases on the Internet, which are basically huge networks of national code databases.Keying in the 8, 12 or 13 digit figures of a bar code into an international code database, returns information on the manufacturer and the country of origin of the product. Moreover, each bar code is assigned to only one product worldwide; but these individual details are hardly visible to the naked eye.

Mac FAIL Group on Flickr

I created a group earlier this AM for the ultimate in life imitating art for Mac users… its called Mac FAIL and is an homage to all you mac users who have crazy things happen to your screen whilst working… This arty color strewn screen capture inspired me to do something about it!
My flickr photo group was link checked by my good friends at Wired Blogs
QR Code Laser Engraving on iPhone

I was at the 2008 Web2.0 Expo last week in San Francisco and stopped by the Instructables.com booth where they had a Laser Engraving Machine setup and were doing engravings for FREE for conference attendees. You could get either your laptop, iPod or iPhone (or any other device for that matter) engraved, as long as your provided them with vector art or high enough resolution bitmap art.
I provided them with a PNG file of a QR Code I generated (via Kaywa QR-Code Generator) with my entire email signature file, postal address, with links to my blog and twitter pages as well. It was a very large QR Code to say the least, in real world use it would not work on many handsets as it is too complicated. But, as a digital graffiti piece on my iPhone it was just fine.
Note: This article and QR engraving was mentioned recently on the Kaywa Blog as well… and I have since met a guy on Flickr who also engraved some QR codes on his iPhone as well!
Edushi: Pixelart Map of Hong Kong

This is easily the most dope pixel art based illustration thing you can scroll and zoom with EVER…
Think eBoy meets Google Maps meets Snap Shots and your scratching the surface… The graphic detail reminds me of the guy that does all those books on The Colosseum, Castles, Pyramids, etc… including reflections in the glass, driving directions from each building, and meta data like the name of the building on hover… oh lordy a mapping graphics to interaction designers wet dream…
iA Japan Web Trend Map with Snap Shots

iA a strategic design agency in Tokyo, Japan has enabled their online version of their subway ‘Web Trend Map‘ with Snap Shots! Not only is this super cool to demo Snap Shots, but its on a Japanese design site, which (as you know) is a large part of the inspiration for posts on this blog.
I posted the same article on the Snap Blog earlier today as well, and it seems to have gotten a great deal of cross posting traffic this weekend (ex. BoingBoing, TechCrunch, et al)…

Usage: CLICK on the linked images to go to the Web Pages -OR- CNTRL CLICK to go to the articles posted on DIGG. Sort the posts and change the design layout via pulldown menus.
I blogged about this DIGG API mashup first on the Snap Blog. Last time I checked this mashup had around 1596+ DIGGS voted. This is so awesome for Snap Shots and our products recognition, I am beside myself. The posting was featured on the DIGG homepage on Saturday for most of the day.
Thanks again to Hart Woolery a Lead Developer at YourMinis for the inside tip on this…
