Everyone Loves To Divide And Rule (Sky – Foreign Matters)
The headline is written, of course, entirely in the context that since the
dawn of history we have evidence from every time and place, that leaders seek
to divide in order to rule, and that white leaders, black leaders, asian
leaders et al behave pretty much the same way once in power in order to
**stay** in power.
It would be entirely wrong to write something as clumsy, nay, crass, as ‘Black
people love to divide and rule’ because that would be singling out a
particular race, and would be racist. So I wouldn’t do that. Only an idiot
would.
In the very front of any sensible person’s mind, about to start typing, would
be the thought ‘I will not make a sweeping generalisation about an entire
race of people on this sensitive subject’.
In Western culture the best known example of divide and rule is British
colonialism in the 19th and 20th centuries.
For decades London ensured that no unified power could emerge in any of the
colonies which could challenge Britannia’s dominion. Eventually the game was
